Creative Writing:
The concept of weaving words into worlds is absolutely fascinating to me! I remember sneaking into the older kids' section of the library way back in third grade, stealing glossy covers from the off-limits shelves because I'd read all of the younger kids' books in the library more than once and attempting to pen my own meager stories - since then, writing has been my oxygen, one of my deepest loves! Because my school didn't offer creative writing as a course, I decided to build my own, in a way, and delved into some deep research as an extracurricular. For a look at common topics I pour over in my off time, please take a look at the following link as an example: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1baui_A6zPUedBn-1Syk_BDPiN_CBYBFmWay1-WmrMXQ/edit?usp=sharing Many a night, I use the knowledge gained from this research and my deep passion for words to stay up late twisting new tales, testing out my authorial voice and making whole universes out of pen and ink. One of my paramount goals in life is to publish a novel.
Art and Digital Art (Extracurricular):
Creativity is extremely important to me, as I know that it will not only allow me to craft unique art pieces (which I love studying how to do via extracurricular research and practice), but will also translate over into a potential career in biology, in which I'll need the ability to think on my feet and come up with dynamic solutions where there are few answers to be found. Experimenting with color, light, shading, expression, and creativity is always a lot of fun. One of my recent digital experiments (a portrait of a Ninja Turtle to experiment with unnatural skin tones and unique colors) is linked below: https://rb.gy/cotvhj
Art (Commonwealth Charter Academy):
To further my art studies outside of extracuricular learning, I'm currently taking Drawing Studio 1.
Photography (Commonwealth Charter Academy):
For new perspectives and a dynamic sense of creativity, I've taken Photography at CCA, exploring camrea techniques and angles to get a better appreciation for the beauty found in everyday life.
Additional Art Experience:
I also sew and crochet in my off-time (I spent a year preparing and selling crochet works at a craft fair in high school).

Beyond academics, a big part of my identity is giving back to the community through volunteer work every Sunday at CCD, as knowledge is no good unless shared, and understanding is not found alone, but together. Through my role as a teacher's aid in the past, as teacher, and, currently, as a Sacrament class teacher, I share the love, light, and forgiveness of Jesus Christ with young Roman Catholics. I am overjoyed to be blessed with the opportunity to prepare children from other Parishes who had fallen behind in their religion studies prepare for the peace of Reconciliation and Penance this year and am working to give them the tools they need to progress in their religious studies and their personal relationships with the Lord.
Becuase of my deep roots in volunteer work, I have been a member of the NJHS (part of middle school and 9th grade) and the NHS (10th-present), serving for several years as Historian. This year, my chapter is working together to find ways to volunteer virtually in light of COVID-19.
As I transfer into college life and my world changes, I will find new ways to grow this connection to my community and the world.
