History
• I was a nurse's assistant in the 2nd Hospital of Shijiazhuang, China. I helped with patient needs, medical help, and transport. I reassured patient families, handled patient medications, and worked with other nurses to set up kidney dialyses. I took care of patients in the ICU, made sure they were eating properly, and conversed with them to make them feel more at ease and comfortable at the hospital.
• As a volunteer at the AIDS Action Committee: Youth on Fire in Boston, I provided clothes, medical care, health insurance, drug testing, hot meals, and more for the homeless and people at risk of communicable diseases.I also suggested job opportunities, drug prevention enrollments, educational workshops, and more to help the homeless build a career. I also helped provide first aid to homeless people that arrive in the center and to those that need it.
• As a volunteer at the Tufts Medical Center, I shadowed the patho-histology lab learning about the process of analyzing tissue slides for cancer cells. I also conversed to patients around the hospital to make them feel more comfortable and less scared and lonely. I talked to them about any topic such as politics, jokes, horoscopes, sports, daily life, families, and more. Finally, I went around the hospital doing hourly checks on patients, checking how they were feeling and if they needed anything.
• At my local library, I greet families every time they enter and help them find what books they want to check out. I organize the library, placing books back when they are returned and rearranging bookshelves when the library was under renovation. I participated in book sales, handling money, making signs to put around town, and promoting sales. I order new books and CDs online, place them into the catalog when they arrive, cover them, and place barcodes and labels on them.
• As part of my town's community education program, I helped teach and prepare elementary students for the upcoming school year. I taught them English, Science (engineering), and Cooking. I helped them with their writing, reading, and understanding skills regarding prompts or books. I helped them create designs and build structures. I also used my prior knowledge in baking to help with cake decorating, chocolate creations, and other desserts.
• As a tutor in China, I taught Math, English, and Science to Chinese students who wanted to study overseas. I created powerpoints and fun exercises to teach and to help them memor
